Bones, Tusks & More: A Lecture by ‘Bone Man’ Lee Post
Saturday, November 16 | 4 – 6pm | No Charge ($5 donation suggested)
Join us for an afternoon with local Bone Man Lee Post and learn more about the Narwhal Tusk that is now on display in the Marine Gallery at the Pratt Museum. Post will also share more about his contributions to the osteology collection at the Museum including salvaging, preparing, and often articulating animal skeletons, such as the 17-foot Stejneger’s Beaked Whale on display in our Main Gallery.
Lee Post is a nationally recognized bone articulation expert with more than thirty years of experience. He is one of the world’s leading authorities on salvaging, preparing, and articulating beached whales, a story that began when the Pratt Museum acquired a 17-foot beaked whale that washed up on the shores of Kachemak Bay in 1977. This led to fifteen years of building up the osteology collection at the Museum, followed by decades of collaborations with schools and students. Post has also created a variety of written manuals that are some of the only of their kind in the world. Learn more by visiting his website https://www.theboneman.com.
