GLACIER SALON a benefit for the Pratt Museum
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9, 6-9 pm
Join us for an evening of music, art, hors d’oeuvres and wine featuring Mozart’s String Quartet No. 17, “The Hunt” and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 7, Op. 59 No. 1 performed by Homer’s own Glacier Quartet! Doors open at 6, performance begins at 7pm.
Meet the Musicians:
Dr. Marcio Candido, Violin
Brazilian violinist Dr. Marcio Candido has performed extensively worldwide as a soloist, concertmaster, and chamber musician. His most recent album, Brazil x Argentina, was awarded several prizes, including two gold stars at the Music & Stars Awards, a silver medal at the Global Music Awards (emerging artist and new release), and a nomination for the Anchorage Press Person of the Year 2020. Currently he offers private music lessons in the Anchorage area.
Daniel Perry, Violin
In addition to being a prominent private violin teacher, Daniel is a creative force in community music education as a cornerstone of the Paul Banks Elementary Preludes Violin Program and the Homer OPUS Youth Strings Program. As a performer in Homer, he has collaborated in a number of local chamber music concerts including those for the Homer Council of the Arts, the Bunnell Street Art Center and the Pratt Museum. He also performs with the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra and the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra.
Nancy Darigo, Viola
Nancy Darigo currently serves as Principal Violist with the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, having played with the group for 26 years, and is a regular performer with the Anchorage Opera, Anchorage Concert Chorus, and indie rock band Evolution of a Thursday. She also serves as viola coach for the Anchorage Youth Orchestras.
Mannfried Funk, Cello
Mr. Funk has a distinguished career as an award-winning cellist and symphony manager. He began musical studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music when he was five. Beyond earning his BA, BAed, and MA, he pursued studies in Israel. In Homer he has worked collaboratively with the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra, the Homer Council on the Arts, the Homer Youth Orchestra and Opus program, and the Pratt Museum.
