NETTLE FIBER WORKSHOP, WITH CARLA KLINKER
$30 per person/$25 per Pratt Museum member
Learn ways of working with Nettle as a fiber plant with local multi-media artist and fiber explorer Carla Klinker. Nettle has been used as a fiber plant in many parts of the world for millennia. In this workshop, Carla will introduce a variety of ways of working with nettle fiber, including harvesting times and techniques, making cordage, and integrating nettle thread into practical and artistic projects. Explore the history and practice of this ancient craft and deepen your connection with the plants in your own backyard.
This workshop is outdoors and designed for adults, teens are welcome too! Please come prepared for any weather. Please remember to print the waiver/release form and bring a completed copy to the workshop (we will have additional copies available on the day of the event).
Online registration is required for this event.
